About the Ronald McDonald House in Little Rock, Arkansas

rmhc_house

More than 25 years ago the Ronald McDonald House of Arkansas opened its doors and its heart to care for families with seriously ill children hospitalized at Arkansas Children’s Hospital.  It provides a much needed respite for families after spending long hours with their critically ill children, as well as ease some of their financial burdens.  More than a place to stay, the House provides an atmosphere of encouragement, nurturing and hope at a time when families need it most as they are undergoing one of the most stressful ordeals they can endure.  Our House enables families to stay together as an integrated unit in support of their seriously ill child.

The Ronald McDonald House of Arkansas is a private, non-profit that operates separately from the hospitals it serves.  Working closely with Arkansas Children’s Hospital, the 25-room house, governed by policies established by its board of directors, has served nearly 17,000 families since opening in 1980.

Families, which are referred to the House by hospitals, must live outside a 50-mile radius of Little Rock for eligibility.  Though a greater portion of guests are from Arkansas, the House has served families from all over the United States and other countries.  A $10 per night donation for lodging is requested.

Mission Statement

The mission of the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Arkansas is to provide a temporary home away from home that serves and sustains families of children being treated at Arkansas Children’s Hospital and other area hospitals, and adults receiving treatment at local cancer facilities, and to provide support to organizations that serve the needs of children.
